THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR PROCESS

The Estimator
The estimator will inspect your vehicle to assess the amount of damage sustained. An estimate is prepared . The estimate is submitted to your insurance company.  You are only responsible for your deductible amount.

We schedule your car for repair and give you a target date for completion. If additional damage is found when the car is in the shop and has been torn down, a supplement is submitted directly to the insurance company. This may push your target date out, depending on the extent of the additional repairs and the arrival of additional parts.

Parts Are Ordered
The parts manager will order the parts needed for the repair. Once parts arrive, they are checked for accuracy and condition. Damaged or backordered parts are not subject to the control of the body shop. We do our best to have the parts we need in stock when your vehicle arrives.

Remove Damaged Parts
Your vehicle is in the shop and is ready to be disassembled. Once parts have been removed, a secondary inspection will determine if there is any damage that couldn’t be detected initially. If more damage is found, a supplement will be completed and sent to the insurance company. Once approved, any additional parts will be ordered and an updated completion date will be given.

Body and Structural Repair
If necessary, your vehicle will be placed on the computerized frame machine. New panels will be prepared and installed. Priming, sealing, and corrosion protection is added to the new parts and to panels that have been repaired. Once the repairs are completed, the vehicle will head to the paint department.

Painting
First, your vehicle is sanded, prepped, primed and sealed. The last stage before entering the paint booth is taping and masking around the area(s) to be painted, which will protect the parts of the vehicle that will not need painting. The vehicle is now ready to undergo multi-step refinishing using a waterborne paint and an acrylic clear.

The Finishing Touches
Parts that were removed for painting are reattached, the vehicle is reassembled and the electronic components are tested. The vehicle is then detailed and any extras (such as pinstripes) are taken care of. The vehicle is inspected and, if necessary, taken for a test drive. After it checks out, you will be notified and a time is set for picking up your finished vehicle.
